Clew Bay and Achill Island offer everything the lover of water activities could ask for. Great beaches, surfing, wind and kite surfing and many other watersports activities.

There is a great surfing school in Achill which offers a daily bus service from Newport during the summer months to its school on the beach at Keel on Achill Island. For more details, please Click Here.

There is also a very shallow lake in Keel at the foot of Slievemore that is the perfect place to learn how to windsurf. Lessons are offered by the Achill Outdoor Activities Centre, which also offers programmes in Canoeing, Kayaking, Sailing, Windsurfing, Surfing, Hillwalking, Rockclimbing, Orienteering, Mountain Boarding, Archery and Team Building. Achill Island also boasts of some of the finest and most beautiful beaches in Ireland with both the broad beach at Keel and the stunningly beautiful sheltered horseshoe bay at Keem among the finest beaches you will find in Europe. There is also a fine beach in Mulranny, between Newport and Achill.
